第4回早稲田ELF国際ワークショップ(2014年11月14日-15日)

第4回早稲田ELF国際ワークショップが11月14日-15日に早稲田大学早稲田キャンパス16号館305教室で開催されるとのこと。15日午後のパネルでは最近話題になっているEMI(English-medium instruction)をExploring ELF in EMI settingsという題で取りあげる。詳細は下記の通り。参加費、予約等は不要。

RIP

勤務先でお世話になっていた英語科の主任が昨夜急逝された。心筋梗塞だった。

私は修士課程２年の時から今の勤務先に勤め始めて、採用面接官もその先生でそれ以来３年間とてもお世話になっていた。

先生は、日本の大学を卒業された後、アメリカで修士号、博士号を取られ、大学で英語科教育法を担当しつつ、高校の専任教員として勤められていた。月刊英語教育に記事を執筆されたり、最新号のKATE Journalに論文も投稿されたり、本当に勉強熱心な先生で、理論と実践のバランスが取れた、私にとって憧れの先生だった。

思い出話をすればきりがない。

初年度、授業のことで本当に悩んで教員を辞めようと思った時に先生は私に「私ももちろん悩みます。でもそれでも生徒達のことを信じています。」と言ってくださって、励ましてくださったこと。

立教大学で行われた投野先生の講演会に車で連れて行ってもらって、車内で勤務先の英語教育の在るべき姿について語り合ったこと、そしてcan-doやCEFR-Jをどのように高校で導入することが出来るかなど話し合ったこと。

毎年参加していた英語合宿にLETのシンポジウムがあるから参加出来ないということで、講師は絶対に参加しなければならないのに、「石井先生はこれからの英語教育を背負っていく人だから、シンポジウム頑張ってください。」と背中を押してくれたこと。

またもちろん、教員として、社会人として私が間違っていたことは父親のように厳しく叱ってくれたこと。

などなど数え挙げたら思い出話はつきない。これから高大連携の英語教育について共同で研究する計画を立てていて、近いうちにその打ち合わせをしようと二日前に立ち話をしたのが最後になってしまい、本当に残念である。私が今の職場でここまでやって来れたのは先生がいてくださったからであった。

先生に心から尊敬と感謝を捧げ、謹んで御冥福をお祈り申し上げます。

※追記(5/17)

この翌日の高3の授業は、先生が執筆された月刊英語教育2008年7月号の記事「生徒の英語の悩みを聞き、的確な処方箋を出せる力」を生徒に配布して読んでもらうことにした。先生がどれだけ生徒達のことを思いながらその記事を書いたのかが少しでも伝わってくれることを願って。

ライティング・プロダクトからライティング・プロセスへ―Writing MaertiX Corpus Project―

先日のLETメールマガジンでも紹介がありましたが、第54回外国語教育メディア学会全国研究大会（2014/8/4-6 於：福岡大学）で「ライティング・プロダクトからライティング・プロセスへ―Writing MaertiX Corpus Project―」という公募シンポジウムをさせていただけることになりました。

それに先立ち、第83回外国語教育メディア学会中部支部春季研究大会（2014/5/24 於：愛知教育大学）で「ライティング・プロセス可視化コーパスのタスクデザイン」という口頭発表を同じメンバーでさせて頂きます。
